Childcare Support
The largest financial burden of single parents
April 8, 2026 - Access to reliable childcare is one of the biggest barriers facing working families today.
In Philadelphia alone, there are over 70,000 single-parent households with 1/3rd of them earning under the poverty line while having to struggle to make childcare payments of $11,000 annually, at minimum, for just 1 child.
Inspired by the Michigan Tri-Share model, our scaled-down initiative is designed to make childcare more affordable, stable, and accessible through a shared support approach.
Our program brings together partnerships with other non-profits to leverage the cost for families to help reduce payments by a target of 50%. This collaborative structure allows more families to access consistent, high-quality care while maintaining employment and financial stability.
This community effort has larger ripple effects by improving workforce production which can increase revenue for business while the savings from childcare can reduce reliance on social safety nets for state and local municipalities while providing for an increase in childcare jobs.
Families will still be responsible for 50% of the cost and maintain an 85% participation rate to remain eligible but the triple contribution effort to affordability ensures long-term success for the entire community that can, and will scale to large term growth, given time.
The Sole Well Foundation is excited to roll out this unique model for the Philadelphia area and with assistance from our donors, can make this a state-wide project worth investing in.
